Got a cross frame with top tube cable routing? Sorry to say unless you are using a mountain bike crank (and gearing) a top pull mountain bike front derailleur won't work for you. There is also no such thing as a top pull road front derailleur either so you are going to have to change the direction of that cable if you are going to use a bottom pull road front derailleur on it. If the frame builder was planning ahead you should have a mounting stud near the bottom of the seat tube for a cable pulley that will change the direction of the cable pull. If you don't have a mounting stud then you will need an E-Clamp that fits the diameter of your seat tube. The E-Clamp has a mounting stud that the cable pulley can be mounted to.
