You couldn't have asked for a nicer day! On Sunday August 22nd The Morris Farm Trust hosted it's sixth annual Tour de Farms bicycle ride, celebrating the farms and farm stands of mid-coast Maine. The weather was beautiful and
the countryside lush from all the rain we've had this year. Ninety-eight riders participated in all, with three ride options to choose from: the 100 mile "Holy Cow!" Century; the 50 mile "Giddy-up & Go!" Intermediate; and the 15 mile "Family Farm Fun Tour".

This years event was sponsored by the Bicycle Coalition of Maine, Bath Cycle & Ski, the Merrymeeting Wheelers Cycle Club, Norm's Used Cars, Mid Coast Hospital, and Renys. The rest stops along the route were at Goranson's Farm Market
in Dresden, Uncas Farm in Whitefield, The Pemaquid Hotel at Pemaquid Point, and Renys in Damariscotta. The tour route wove its way through the scenic country side, with gorgeous views of the surrounding farm land, towns, river and coast, and ending up back at The Morris Farm.
At 3:30 PM riders and their guests got together for a delicious post ride barbecue made with ingredients from local farms! In addition to the The Morris Farm, food came from Swango, Goranson's and Bisson's. Additional supplies were donated by Jim Amaral of Borealis Bread, Peter Jordan, produce
manager at BJs in Portland, Shaws in Bath and Shaws and Yellowfront in Wiscasset. The tables, chairs and kitchen for food preparation were provided by St. Philip's Church in Wiscasset and all the food was deliciously prepared by Morris Farm volunteers as usual. Special thanks to Lee Tribou and her
crew of volunteer radio operators from the Merrymeeting Amateur Radio Association for driving the courses and providing support for the riders.
The Morris Farm is located at 156 Gardiner Road (Route 27), Wiscasset, Maine, right next door to the Wiscasset Primary School. For information on current activities please visit our web-site at www.morrisfarm.org or call us at (207) 882-4080. Come join us down on the farm!
The mission of The Morris Farm is to promote the values of sustainable agriculture and stewardship of the earth through education, demonstration and community involvement.
