When the inside sales rep from your biggest supplier flies in for his yearly visit what do you do to keep him occupied?
First of all you have to thank him for taking you out to breakfast at your favorite morning haunt. When you get back to the shop you give him the
complimentary tour of the establishment, remembering to tell him that this is the VIP tour that only distinguished guests get. (read: buttering him up for what is to come) Following the tour we
engage in some shop talk and he answers questions on new products, fill rates, and how the season is going. It just so happens that he has agreed to go on a ride with some shop guys the next day and
he had a new BMC road bike shipped in to meet him. We graciously allow him the use of a stand and some tools to put the bike together. This will get him good and comfortable for what is to come....

BMC put aside we rolled a Trek 220 into the stand that needed a tune. Without a word Derrick jumped in! |

The stay at Bath Cycle / Bikeman was not all wrenches and grease for Derrick,
although he did an outstanding tune on a Trek 220 that was in dire straights. We made sure he left with a good taste of what Maine is all about. Derrick was treated to a nice 4-hour road ride in the
hills followed by a shop party that included steamers and home made clam chowdah.
Thanks for all the hard work helping us grow our business. We also need to thank Bernie, who made the trip out
with Derrick but had to catch a flight home before we could put him to work. And all the folks back in Minnesota who didn't get to partake in the Chowder, thanks for your support. You are all welcome
here in Maine.... just not all at once!

Derrick wanted to ride some hills when he was here in Maine and the Flatlander held his own with some of Bikeman's best Team Riders. Word is that he may
have been holding back a bit..... |
