USA CYCLING NATIONAL CYCLO-CROSS CHAMPIONSHIPS

After doing 26 races, between road and cyclo-cross, you'd think I'd be ready to pack it in for the season. But I was totally ready mentally and physically to do Nationals. I set my training up for the season to peak for Nationals. Had checked the registration only to find out that Ned Overend...yes Deadly Ned..would be there. If that wasn't bad enough, I saw that Paul Curley was also going to be there. I guess I was looking to finish third..ha ha!!
Lined up for the 9:30 race and felt like I was fully warmed up. Somehow I actually out did myself and from the start was last..DEAD LAST! 67 riders ahead of me. I had my work cut out for me. At this point I had no where to go but up, so I buried my head, maxed my heart rate and prayed for no mechanicals. As the race progressed, I slowly moved up and finished somewhere around 52nd.
