 Ski Race
During this past week I participated in two ski races. On Wednesday our ski team traveled to Kents Hill for a slalom. They have their own ski slope, with two trails and the fastest rope tow in North America. The day didn't start out the way I had hoped, the training course was nearly impossible and the race course looked similar. I got through my first run under the impression that my time was decent, but my morale was boosted when I saw I had the fastest first run by almost a second. I was very excited and knew all I had to do to win was to stand up and finish. I did more than that, I beat my first run and got the fastest second run to finish 1st overall.
On Friday our team traveled to Shawnee Peak for a GS. It was very cold and stripping down to my GS suit was no fun. Despite my first run feeling slow I managed to obtain third place. In my second run I picked up the intensity and placed second. The times of my runs averaged together gave me second place overall. Our team swept the competition with racers finishing first, second and third. Stay tuned for more ski reports coming soon.
On the biking side of things. I have been biking every night for about an hour or so still concentrating on building a base. I have been using my kreitler rollers in my dorm room. If you haven't used rollers before, it is the way to train indoors. It is much more exciting due to the possibility of crashing at any moment, the rollers also helps with balance.
