 | | Salsa Mamasita | We have always been big fans of Salsa frames here at Bikeman. Great function specific designs and fantastic paint. This particular frame I have been eagerly awaiting. So have a lot of other people judging by the amount of talk going on about it on message boards. I have been holding out on jumping into the full 29'er end of the pool until the right frame was available. Well, good news is that it is on the way.
 | | click to enlarge | Salsa has been into 29'ers for some time and I think that gives them a certain amount of credibility in the 29'er movement. They certainly are not an "also ran" company looking to jump on the latest trend. When they release a new frame it has to bring something new to the segment.
 | | click to enlarge | The Mamasita is purpose built to be a lightweight, race oriented 29'er hardtail. They started with their tried and true custom butted Scandium tubeset for the main triangle and chainstays. | | click to enlarge | Then they added carbon seatstays but the story doesn't end there however. The chain stays are flattened much like the Dos Niner to provide a platform for vertical compliance. The carbon seat stays are then flattened as well to absorb that compliance. The end result combined with the 29" wheels should be a flat out winner. Fast, light, stiff where you want it, forgiving when you need it.
 | | click to enlarge | The frame is disc only and fits up to 2.3" tires. It is designed to be used with 80mm travel suspension fork or an 80mm suspension corrected rigid fork. | | click to enlarge | It uses a 1 1/8" standard cup headset, 27.2mm seatpost, 35mm front derailleur clamp and a 68mm bottom bracket shell. Weight for the 18" medium size is 3.4 lbs. which is definitely race weight for a 29er. The frame will be available in Small, Medium, Large and X-Large.
Salsa Mamasita Full Geometry Specs
MSRP is $889.95 and ETA is early to mid April. We expect this frame to be hot and sell out fast so we are taking pre-oders now so you don't miss out. Big Al
