| | Jason Achilich: Mountain Bike
2008 RACING AGE: 29
RESIDENCE: Burlington, VT
WHERE I GO MONDAY MORNING: My bike, then classes at St. Michael's College.
RACING DISCIPLINE(S) AND CATEGORY(S): Expert Single Speed/Single Speed 24 hour
# OF YEARS RACING: 9
# OF BIKES OWNED: 6 (Independent Fabrications 29ss, Vasago Bandersnatch, Salsa La Raza, Surly cross check, a pink Bridgestone fixie with a sweet rack to run errands, and the fast Univega fixie!)
FAVORITE BIKE: All of them, but the Surly Cross Check gets extra points for the versatility of it. It has no less than 4 distinct personalities depending how it is built up.
FAVORITE TRAIL OR RIDE: Mobbs Hill/Valley, Arcana Trail, and I get sentimental when I ride any trail that I have helped build or maintain.
NON-CYCLING INTERESTS/HOBBIES: Freeheel skiing, being a coffee snob, trail work, looking at maps on Google maps trying to find new routes to ride/ski, figuring out what whole foods I can make/eat while I am racing and riding!
PERSONAL NOTES & QUOTES: I can break down my life really easily, in that I really like playing outside. My lifestyle choices and where I live are a perfect match, where I am pretty sure the motto of Vermont is play first, think of working second!
Any length of time is good for me, and I love to lead tours for visitors in my little slice of heaven in Vermont!
