Bikeman Product Code: TR1290I used the Maxxis Ignitor 29x2.1 on my Salsa Dos Niner all last year and I could not have asked for a better tire.
It worked great on a variety of courses and really shined during the Mohican 100 in Ohio when it rolled fast on everything from single track, to pavement and service roads for 100 miles!I also used it during some serious wet conditions during the 12 Hours of Big Bear in West Virginia last September which was run on the same race course as the famous 24 Hours of Big Bear. Again, they hooked up well on a variety of trail conditions.
The tread while not semi-slick rolled fast and held up well even with a 100 or so road and crushed lime stone "rail-trail" miles on them. I had no problem with side wall durability on the Pennyslvania and West Virginia rocks either.
It wasn't until I had the chance to try out some newer, fatter 29" tires, for more aggressive late fall and winter riding that I took them off. I'm sure I'll be rolling them on many a race course in 2007.
