Once a year my wife and I take off for some form of vacation. The past 3 years we have made the big flight over the "big pond" to Europe. We have made the trip to Spain twice and once to France. We have done all the things that tourists flock to. We have seen some very old stuff. Paintings, bridges, castles, forts and a host of other things. We have eaten some really good food and drink and at the same time met some very nice people along the way.

With having said that I have made attempts to locate my own kind, "the cyclist!" MY wife would give me some time to go explore and seek out some form of bicycle mecca. Well, finally after 3 trips I don't know how many euros and around 23,000 miles, I HAVE FINALLY SUCCEEDED!

My last full day in Paris, France I finally found a bike shop. It was everything that I had imagined it would be. It was small, crammed with bikes, bike parts, and best of all.........HISTORY!!! This bike shop was on its 3rd generation of owners. Laurent Cycles had a lot of racing jerseys worn and signed by the pros. There were photos of most of the major players in cycling's history. This place was so small "that you had to go outside to change your mind." The best part of all, I purchased the shop's racing jersey. I don't know if you would call it a club jersey or not, but to me it is. I asked the owner of the shoppe if he did race, and replied that he did. So he got me a race jersey that he and his mates wear on race day. This was one really cool dude! This place was the bomb as far as I was concerned, I was so psyched! As soon as I learn to "cut and paste" on the computer I will put some pictures to this story.

So if you are ever in Paris check these guys out. They are located between metro stops Republique and Oberkkampf, almost half way in between. There are also 2 chocolatires and a Greek restaurante right across the street from Laurent Cycles.
