Idyllwild Spring Challenge Idyllwild, CA May 12th & 13th, 2007
 | | click to enlarge | Matt Stevens and I headed 2 hours south to race in The Idyllwild spring challenge a race course that most of west coast bikeman members know well, with one small change this race runs the normal 24 hour course back words. The race started with a quick single track climb that lead to a fast bomb down a hill named the demoralizer due to the fact it looms at the end of the normal 24 hour course, we would get a chance at mastering it at the end this time with 22 miles under our belt (no success).

Then to the climbing 3 plus miles up a steep a rocky section that had most the field walking. | | click to enlarge | After completing half of the normal 24 hours of adrenalin course we found our self on a great downhill single track that went on for days making us question when we had to climb back out. | | click to enlarge | After long miles of climbing (hiking) we finished the 24 hour course on that same flat road that we spun on to start the race and an uphill finish ….or up hill walk for most. Although the course was said to be 19 miles in length we both had around 23 what’s 4 extra miles between friends. Matt finished 4th and I pushed him over to capture 3rd, on the way home we said if this race doesn’t stop us from riding single speed nothing will. Great course...kinda
