Place: Auburn, Maine Event: Great Falls Criterium Time: June 3, 2007 11:55PM Distance: 20 laps Approx. 15 miles
I am not much of Criterium racer. But for this weekend it was the only thing close by for me to race in. This race course takes place right downtown Auburn, Maine. The course is apprx. .75 miles with all left hand turns. The start/finish line is just before the first left hand turn and it pitches up hill a bit. Then it flattens out going into turn 2. Now you proceed down a small graded hill into turn 3 this is where it gets fast and furious.
The stretch of street between turns 3 and 4 are a little rough. So you must be aware of your racing line. The pavement is broken somewhat with manhole covers in the racing lanes. Flying around turn 4 and heading to the start/finish line. This course is very fast. It is my opinion not too technical. If you hold your line through the corners and be aware of your surrounding there will be no trouble.
