I got the Minoura RDA 850 Rim Drive Trainer last winter and I am quite satisfied with the unit. The base is sturdy durable, the rim drive system is quite a good idea for saving the wheels and avoid the constant tire rubbing that produces noise and rubber particles.

The setup requires little more attention than standard tire drive, but, unless you change between different wheels (like between a mtb and road bike) It is not an issue once you adjust it once. The other difference is that the rim drive can slip if you apply significant force starting up, but you should not do that anyway... The resistance unit provides enough resistance for endurance training when the weather prevent you from training, even in the lower settings, at least for me, however, if you are looking for a megawatt resistance enough to mach your macho spirit, this is not the unit for you. a higher resistance unit would cause the rollers to slip at the rim anyway. Great trainer, unbeatable price, (150-100), quiet and simple. If after divorce my wife gets to keep the unit, I would buy it again...
