November 4, 2007 found high clouds and coastal fog. By race time the weather was ideal. Lake Casitas Recreational Area in Ojai was the venue. It has been a couple of decades since I've been in the neighborhood. And there is a rumor that our State's First Lady and "Terminator" are seeking a get-a-way in town.

So off all 24 riders go. The course is spacious, three paved sections, numerous long grassy strips, a couple steep ride-up's, two hike-a-bikes and some barriers. This was one fast ride.

The announcer kept saying 4, then 3, finally two more laps. I hung on and did not get lapped. I managed to pick off 10 riders. The one that re-passed me actually had the opening paved 1/4 mile drag strip record and owned the hole shot only to have some kind of mechanical, allowing old me to take him.
