"A Gathering of Revolutionaries." This quote by Brian Riepe, editor/publisher of Mountain Flyer Magazine and "An Inside Guide to the Framebuilders of N.A.H.B.S.( say nabs) is in the editor's note. The setting is Portland, Oregon. The dates February 8,9 & 10. This is the fourth time we have had the pleasure to witness the assemblage of framebuilders, painters, clothing companies, metalurgical firms, machinist, tool builders, wheel, seat, tire and drive train, component and accessory manufactures.

And what a choice of location- Portland. A recent city comissioned study of the entire bicycle economic activity of the region exceeded $60 million dollars annually. It is an understatement to speak of the bike culture in this town. At every turn, covered locking bicycle covers, business hours posted with Sunday specific activities. The downtown sports ever kind of two-wheeled transporter imaginable. I knew what would be the first stop of my journey to the convention center. The parking lot. To see what the local's arrived on was, of course, a show unto itself. And the turn-out. The citizens of Portland should be congratulated.
