GSC Series Race Columbus, GA April 13th, 2008
 | | click to enlarge | I pre-rode the Columbus race course the Friday before the race. It was very similar to last years course, but with a less confusing road crossing. The course was also very fast, flat and was about ten miles long. Sunday, before the race, it was very nice to see friends I hadn’t seen since last year.
I raced the sport 19-29 class. At the start of the race I ended up pretty far in the back, probably eleventh out of sixteen people. This was mostly due to me ending up at the back at the start line. I just kept passing people until after about five miles, when I caught up to Luke, who was in first place, and grabbed his wheel. I stayed on his wheel most of the race and he said he didn’t need me to pull.
Near the end of the race I got into the front and went through a short field section with Luke behind me. He sprinted ahead before we reached the large dip and we had to slow down a lot to go over it. After that we sprinted to the finish, but there was only about ten yards to sprint. I ended up in second with an exciting sprint finish and I feel like I did well.
