The So Cal Cross-Country Series comes home to beautiful Big Bear,CA. So three certified Team Bikeman.com riders made the journey thru the maze of L.A. freeways to the 7,000 foot elevation start line. There was some confusion at the beginning, but eventually it sorted itself out and the endless waves of riders attacked the course. And what a course.
The first climb was say three or four miles of fireroad. By that point we started to enjoy a little up and down activity. A sweet single track, the water stop and I figured it was about time to start heading back. More climbing, some magnificent vistas and even some downhill. Then the ever challenging rock gardens to the finish. Over twenty miles. I finished ahead of a DSF. But I choose the perfect ride. The "Mamasita", newly renamed the Fire Road Mama". The 29'er really instilled confidence on the fast soft fireroad descent. The Sram build kit performed flawlessly.
