Trick!  Back in the day this was one of the coolest upgrades you could add to your fork... (I don't think that is giving too much away)  The winning answer will include the Make, Model and Functionality of the item.  Personal experience is worth big bonus points. The winner will receive a $10 Gift Certificate.

The winner has been selected.....  Congrats to Ryan G.   Your $10 Gift Cert is on the way.   Here is the winning answer.

"AC (Adventure Components) after market crown/steerer for the Answer Manitou 3/4 fork. I had one of these though it was the model for the Mag21. I also had the matching AC brake arch *AND* an AC after market rocker for the GT RTS frame that included 2 separate sets of roller bearings for torsional and "normal" buttery smoothness. AC stuff is as good as it gets."

Honorable Mention goes to Dave with his "Swiss-cheese suspension add-on for a MTB threadless fork"  If you had the manufacturer you would have tipped the scales in your favor!

That looks like the AC (Adventure Components) aftermarket crown/steerer for the venerable Rock Shox Judy. I didn't have one, but I knew a guy who had just about ever single anodized, component on his bike, including an AC crown on his Specialized Judy/Future Shock (you know, the ones with the carbon legs).

An AC Components CNC crown with aluminum steering tube (for aheadset) for a RS21. Lighter in weight, and big in cool factor. Another benefit: More tire clearance. It may be for a Manitou, but considering the Manitou already had a cnc crown, I'm guessing RS.

It looks like an AC (Adventure Components) fork crown to me. I had an AC suspension road fork that had originally started life as a Marzocchi MTB fork before AC got their meddling hands on it, the crown looked exactly like yours, drilled for lightness. It would not suprise me if they made aftermarket crowns for other applications (this one looks as though it could be for a rockshox or manitou) although I have never seen any.

It's a tripple clamp with a steer tube. Clamps onto the top of front fork stantions.

This is a Swiss-cheese suspension add-on for a MTB threadless fork. A small cheese producer in Lausanne combined forces with a high-tech plating company to deposit an aluminum coating on a milled block of Emmenthaler. It was then anodized a distinctive blue color and bonded to a steel riser. The cheese retains its original resilience, giving a soft yet ripe feeling.
