Just a quick run down on the Rim Nordic XC race. Vikki Logrbrinck set the ground work in her article for the venue. On Sunday team member Roger Jorgensen and myself made our way up the hill to race the xc event. The long course was used as it was a combined Rim Nordic and Team Big Bear event. Points were awarded in both series.
Sittin’ on the ol’ tailgate waiting to stage I spot Bikeman.com colors. I leaned over to RJ and said "Look at that over there, I thought we were the only lost coast people up here." We walked over and introduced ourselves to Eric Paysen and his wife who came up from Encinitas, CA. It was great talking with them and hopefully we can all get together for another event.
Now it was time to get serious. The course was all powder from a 12 hour race the weekend before. I have never seen so many ruts in the same switchback. The heat was relentless. The valleys in LA and San Berdo hit 100 that day and it just didn't let up on the hill with us. One flat tire, several small get-offs and one beautiful double forward roll in the tuck position with a 10 point face plant I had just about had enough.
Sunday was bad, Monday I felt like I was struck by lightning, Tuesday my story was I was hit by a small yellow bus with red flashing lights. If it doesn't rain soon up on that hill to knock the powder and dust down it might be time to take up botchi ball. Hope everybody had a good 4th.
