Watch your head!
You might run into that 1955 Elgin Bluebird hanging from the rafters. Yes, it's true. The boss never throws anything away. It just magically vanishes from the shop and ends up here. If you've given up hope of finding that low gear pawl for a Hercules three speed, drop Davis an email davis@bikeman.com. If we can't find it for you, well, uh, we can't find it for you.

SLIM BOLTS, XTR Alloy Bolt Kit
On display in Bikeman's Museum is a new in the box alloy bolt kit for Shimano XTR M900 and M910 componentry.  This kit claims a weight savings of 220grams on the 1994 Shimano XTR Kit and it is blue in color for the style conscious. Alloy bolt kits where all the rage in the early 90's.  Companies like SRP and TNT made their mark by producing every little nut and bolt you could imagine.
The kit appears to have been distributed here in the US by a company called Bici Designs out of Los Angeles.  The bolts themselves where made in Italy.  Included in the kit is everything you would need to retrofit a complete bike with alloy bolts.  Right down to the toe clip attachment bolts and the stem bolt for the old style quill stem.

An interesting excerpt from the insturctions reads: "In order to carry out proper mounting of your 'LITE-BOLT' reversion kit, grease the threaded parts and screw them firmly by means of a dynamometric spanner calibrated according to the table below"....  OK, I think you mean grease the threads and tighten them with your tourque wrench to the appropriate setting.

Very cool item. If anyone wants to lighten their old XTR kit by 220grams let us know. We may be able to make you a deal!
