The Chamois
Sunday "bookended" this 3 day weekend of mine with goodness. Just to run it on down... Friday: I take a day off work and get 3 hour single track mountain bike ride in on the El Santo only to come home and find my new Salsa Dos Niner had arrived from Bikeman.com. Sweet.

Saturday: Was an R&R day. I dropped all my parts off at my Tom's house in the a.m. Tom does all my big time bike work at a great price. Gotta give him props. He does a hell of a job and even put me ahead of his high roller "clients" and did a freaking SSSSSWEET power build on the new Dos Niner...

After that, it was hanging with my son Brennan (a.k.a. The B-Man) out at Pappy-M's house.

ImageSunday: I scooted over to Tom's early in the a.m. to pick up the Dos Niner. Looked great and he did a great job of course. The only problem was I hadn't noticed how freaking WIDE the Salsa Pro-Moto Bar was when I ordered it. So we needed to cut it down. That little job resulted in me making Tom miss Sunday Mass with his family. Now my name will be uttered in the confessional yet again by someone. DOH!

As much as I wanted some quality time with the Dos Niner, a road ride was in my plans. So I hit the local roads for a little over 3 hours on the road bike. Hit some nasty ass hills. Real knee busters. I'm talking rocking back and forth, going 3 MPH hills. Dammmmmn. I noticed at the end of one long switch back climb that my arms where actually hurting more than my legs from pulling the bars. That and that I sounded like I needed to be put on respirator!

ImageAll in all a great ride. Got a nice long ride in using my new Lazer Genesis helmet. That lid is AMAZING! Look for review of it here on the site by team rider Steve Morse and here by yours truly. I will be posting my thoughts as well over at “The Soiled Chamois” in the coming days.

Finished off the weekend by making some good olive oil pasta with chicken, broccoli and garlic (Wifey calls it Skanky Pasta) having a couple frosty ones and watching a great Tour of Flanders on OLN. What's up with Tom Boonen's hair? It's like some kind of odd Euro-Mullet or something. Dude rocks, though mullet or no mullet.

I hope to get out on the Dos Niner soon and put up some thoughts, but since baseball starts this week, it's a sure bet for snow and rain. So I'm not counting on it. Monday will most likey be an hour or so on the trainer.

Hope everyone had a great weekend and got some miles in!

Later.

Jason
