A funky product from back in the day. This one should be fun. The winning answer will include the Make, Model and Functionality of the item. If more than one person gets that correct the tie will go to creativity. Personal experience is a big plus. A winner has been crowned.

A great edition of the Attic What IZIT. Everyone likes anodized bits from back in the day. Several great answers and unfortunately one just after the buzzer sounded. After I sent out the prize and was ready to post the winner a great answer came in from Mark M. Not sure if it had the potential to win or not as Telford came through with a very detailed description of the item. Keep checking back each Monday for a new Attic What IZIT.
WINNER - Telford Crisco: "Paul Moon Unit cable carriers. These were one of the first high quality replacement cable carriers to come to market. At the time they were a novelty because everyone had been to the steel and stamped aluminum factory mass produced type, and people thought it was machining overkill. The Moon Unit is machined from plate aluminum in an arched shape. At the bottom, there is two troughs that the straddle cable lays in and hangs from. The middle area between these two troughs is milled away to allow extra length of inner wire to pass through."
RUNNER UP - Jake Morton: "Ahhh, the Paul's Components Moon Unit. Another fine example of design from the CNC'd and anodized heyday of mountain bike parts. It's a brake straddle hanger for cantilever brakes. Fairly sought after now by Cross riders who want to hang their brakes high for mud clearance and better leverage."
RUNNER UP - Rod Boynton: "Is it a later rev of Paul's Engineering Moon Unit? I remember when these came out in 94-95! I was racing the NCS circuit at Mount Spokane, WA when I saw these."
RUNNER UP - John Rad: "I think it's a Paul Components Moon Unit (Cable hanger, they came in various colors God love anodizing!) The shape is the same but the attachement is a little different. I favored the Ringle Mojo! (the peace symbol)."
RUNNER UP - Rich Koehl: "Paul Price Components Moon Unit straddle cable carrier. I think this was the first design as there is a new Moon Unit back on the market today. Named for its purdy crescent shape."
RUNNER UP - K. Polsen: "This is Paul Components cable carrier for cantilever brakes."
RUNNER UP - Jim Witherell: "Paul's straddle cable yoke?"
LATE ENTRY (Honorable Mention) - Mark MacNab: "#26 is a Paul's "Moon Unit" straddle hanger circa very early 90's. As anodization became the order of the day and owning anodized bits became the 'bling' of the day, (thus signaling in technicolour that you were a "serious" mountain biker). Straddle hangers for the canti brakes were perhaps the most affordable piece of 'bling' one could get ones' cheap-ass-student-struggler hands on. ..and I've still got two. Neither are Pauls though cause I couldn't even afford the real deal on the cheapest bling. I had to get some cheapo off-label thingies, but I'm still rockin' a black one on my 89' Rocky Fusion! "
