Not much on tap this week. Doing some recovery and low key riding this week then I'll start kicking it up again for phase II of my race season.
Took the camp gear I borrowed for Lodi Farms back to my buddy Tom, including the lantern with the mantles I promptly blew out on Saturday night. Sorry T.
Tom is going to give El Santo some big love too. Got me a new chain on and gonna have the fork and front hub serviced. El Santo is in some great hands. Being friends with an ace mechanic like Tom has taught me some things over the years like get a new chain on before it screws your cassette up and spend a LITTLE bit of cash to SERVICE the fork before you're spending a TON of cash for a new one. That and having screwed up my share of cassettes and bought my share of new forks.
I also got confirmation on my Lodi Farms results. Finished 7th out of 53 Solo Males. I'll take it.
Weather here looks to be leaning towards the soggy and fecal covered end of the stick here for the next few days. So it looks like most of my riding will be done via the road bike and trainer. No problem. Saddle time is saddle time.
On the "non biking time to relax" side of the Chamois... Tis the season! What season?? Hefeweizen season!! Woooo Hoooo.
Stopped in at the beer store today for a case of Stoudt's Weizen. Weizens are some of my favorites, if for no other reason they are traditional spring and summer thirst quenchers and if I'm drinking one that means that my ass cheeks are seeing saddle time, the Bucs are starting their race for the National League basement, it's skirt and shorts weather for the ladies (nudge, nudge, wink, wink know-what-I-mean?), and the flowers are in bloom. In other words: Good times made JUST a little bit better with the glow from a couple of Hefe's in my cheeks. If you can get 'em in your neck of the woods, check out great ones like Whirlwind Wheat by Victory Brewing, the above mentioned Stoudt's Weizen or Tröegs Dreamweaver Wheat. Mmmmmm.
Hope to get some long easy miles in this weekend, have a couple of those newly purchased Weizens and watch some Giro highlights.
Have a great weekend and get some miles in!
Jason
