Word is on the street is that Spot Brand components has been sold. Apparently the business is being relocated by the new owner/management. As a result production is on hiatus until the relocation is complete and the only available product is what is in the pipeline. Production of components should resume in the coming months but there is no firm ETA of when that will be or how long it will take to fill the pipeline once it starts again.
The good news is that Salsa has finally released their new "Ring Dinger" line of chainring guards. They are the same construction as the their "Crossing Guard" cyclocross chainring guards in MTB sizes. The construction is very similar to the Spot Brand guards and like the Spot they are for chain retention only. These are not intended for repeated bashing and certainly not trials use. They come in the 3 popular MTB bolt patterns of 4x104, 5X94 and 5X110. To keep things simple they are all 36t max, meaning you can run them with anything up to and including a 36t ring.
If you need a single chainring to accompany the guard in a single speed or single ring setup the Salsa Standard rings are a great match. The Salsa chainrings and guards are in stock and available for shipment.
If you are desperate for Spot products we still have a few left. We have a handful of 110X34, 94X32, and 94X34 guards as well as 104X34 and 94X32 chainrings. At this time there is still pretty good inventory of 130X42 chainrings, Single Shot spacer kits and Rocket chain tensioners. There is a pretty good chance that these will dry up as well before production comes back on line so if you want one don't wait too long.
