ROAM - A Film by The Collective: "To Roam is to search for something new..." - The perfect lead in. With the film 'The Collective' a new type of Mountain Bike film was born. ROAM continues to push the envelope with smooth riding footage and flowing music. Not a crash and burn flick, ROAM shows how athletic and gracefull the sport of mountain biking can be.
The Collective hit the mark again with ROAM, a 45 minute film of flowing free-ride action. The movie puts an empasis on the amaizing talents of the riders and their ability to ride smoothly through trails that are unrideable to all but a select few.
The soundtrack was perfectly matched to the action on the screen. And the action on the screen was at times breathtaking. From the unbeleivable Urban Trials of Ryan Leech to the scary fast downhill scenes of Steve Peat, ROAM had moments of amaizment. There where also a few somewhat repetetive sections but nothing that made me think about hitting the eject button. The only real negative about the film is that I wasn't ready for it to end. Luckily there are enough Bonus Features to keep you entrenched in the couch for an extra 30 minutes.
It was also nice to see the film pay respects to the Slick Rock of Moab. A true mountain bike Mecca and where many of the sports pioneers got their Free-Ride fix in. The footage from Moab was outstanding. The riders make it look easy, riding lines that seemed unrealistic years ago.
A great film and an absolute must for any collection. Look for ROAM to be hitting the Bikeman Shelves in a few days.
