Park Tool CN-10 Cable Cutters:

Today inside Bikeman's toolbox we found an item that no mechanic, pro or hack, can live without.  A nice set of cable cutters is a must.  Don't be fooled into buying that $10 set at the Mart or any other inexpensive cutter.  Not only will they loose their edge quickly but the action will be clunky and you will have alot of frayed cable ends.  Bikeman's cutter of choice is the Park CN-10.
First of all Bikeman loves Park Tools.  Not only are they top quality tools that stand up to the rigors of shop use but Park shows you how to service the tools and stands behind their tools 100%.  On a quick trip to the Park Tool website to see what they said about the CN-10 I came accross an article on how to adjust your CN-10 Cable Cutters.  Adjust your cutters?....  That's right bet you didn't know they where adjustable.

On to the review.  I have been using the CN-10 for several years now on a regular basis.  The tool has remained sharp and so far in adjustment.  The first thing I noticed about this tool over other cutters is the feel in your hand.  A nice large grip area and solid handle that doesn't flex in the act.  The handles are made of cold forged, heat treated steel with a comfy dual density molded grips.  The wire latch at the bottom of the handle holds the tool together when not in use.  And please keep them latched it will keep your spring strength up and your tool action smooth.

The blades are precision ground steel and honestly will remain sharp for a lifetime of home mechanic use.  Mine have seen hundreds of cuts in the last few years and are still cutting like a hot nice through butter.  Behind the cutting blade there is a crimp section for cable ends, a nice added feature.

All Park Tools are backed by their Limited Lifetime warranty.  Your CN-10's are designed for the rigors of shop use and will hold up great for the home mechanic.  You can't be without cable cutters and this Bikeman wouldn't cut his cables with anything but the CN-10 from Park Tools.
