2006 Kona Explosif Written by Wally Wallace    Monday, 19 March 2007 click to enlarge 2006 Kona Explosif MTB MSRP: $1349.95 BIKEMAN: $999.95 Long live the steel hardtail!  Each year we count on Kona for our steel hardtail fix...  Those days may be numbered as the steel hardtail may be phased out of the line for 2007.  Bikeman / Bath Cycle and Ski, still has a large selection of 2006 Explosifs in stock and are now offering a limited time special on the remaining complete bicycles.  The Explosif is a race-ready hardtail with a durable component spec.  For the past couple of years Kona has used Dedacciai SAT Butted Cromoly tubing on the Explosif and Unit frames.  The tubes are shaped and butted to provide a stong, nimble and light steel frame.  The Explosif comes complete with disc brakes, Marzocchi suspension fork and uses an adjustable rear dropout. This will even allow for the uses of single rear cog without a chaintensioner.  The frame offers shorter rear chainstays for better power transfer and climbing traction and a sloping top tube that has become a Kona tradition. This design offers generous top tube lengths for a perfect fit for both men and women.
