Bikeman Frame and Bike Review

The air is getting cool and the NFL season is underway....  That can only mean one thing, it is time to get your cyclocross equipment set up for the new season.  Bikeman is always on the lookout for cool cyclocross gear to offer our customers.  This year's offerings include the complete lineup of Redline cross frames.  We have offererd Redline frames in the past in our retail store but they had never really stepped up to the plate with a lineup of cross frame worthy of a place on Bikeman.com...  Until the 2007's were released that is...

Actually if we had done our homework last year we could have jumped on the Redline train a bit earlier as the 2006 Conquest and Conquest Pro bicycles where very well spec'ed.  For 2007, the nice spec on compete bikes continues and is matched by equally nice frame and fork offerings.

FRAMES:

Conquest TEAM
Conquest TEAM
Conquest TEAM:  At the top of the lineup is the Conquest TEAM frame featuring a full Scandium tubeset and a Ritchey WCS Carbon fork.  Careful attention to tubing shapes and geometry make this a profesional level race frame.  The top tube is ovalized for comfortable shouldering while the S-Bend rear stays offer ample mud clearance.  The major fault we had with early Redline frames (model year 2001 or so) was the paint.  That is not a problem any longer as the '07 frames have some of the nicest paint jobs we have seen in a long time.  Included with the frame set is the new Ritchey WCS cyclocross fork that offers carbon legs and a carbon steerer tube.  Like the rest of the line, the Conquest TEAM frame uses a standard headset which is also a plus.   These Conquest TEAM frames are orderable NOW and will be shipping from Bikeman by 9/15/06.

Conquest PRO
Conquest PRO
Conquest PRO:  The Conquest Pro was ridden to 4 National Championship titles in Rhode Island last year, thus the stars and stripes band on the top tube.  It features a light weight, double butted U6 aluminum frame with a new Redline carbon fork.   We were very impressed with every detail of this frame.  From the paint to the quality of the new Redline carbon fork it is top of the line throughout.  The big upgrade over the Conquest is in the frame tubing making the frame a bit lighter.   With the nearly identical paint to the TEAM frame, a few folks have ordered these up as pit bikes to match their new Conquest TEAM frames.  The Conquest PRO frame is now orderable and will be shipping from Bikeman now.

Conquest
Conquest
Conquest:  Maybe the best bang-for-your-buck cross frame on the market today.  The Conquest features the same race proven geometry as the PRO and TEAM frames at an unbelievable price.  We were also impressed with the weight of this frame coming in at only 3.63lbs for the 54cm including the seat collar.  A nice double butted 6061 aluminum frame with the S-Bend stays, disc mounts and 130mm dropout spacing.  This is the only frame in the Redline lineup that offers disc brake mounts.  The fork is painted to match the frame and features U6 aluminum blades.  We especially like the paint on this frame and you have to love the headbadge.  The Conquest has been in the Redline lineup for many years but this is a huge upgrade over previous version.  The Conquest frame is now orderable and will be shipping from Bikeman now.
