 | | 2007 Shimano XTR CS-M970 9-Speed Cassette | Day five of the 2007 XTR component review and pricing preview. On tap for today is the new XTR cassette. Nothing grounding breaking to report here. Shimano is still using titanium cogs for the top gears and aluminum carriers to reduce weight while increasing stiffness. They did however manage to shave a few more grams off the previous edition to create their lightest mountain cassette to date. ETA is early October so we are keeping an eye out and will let you know as soon as we have them.
CS-M970: 9-Speed Cassette
A three piece aluminum carrier and 4 titanium cogs make the new CS-M970 Shimano’s lightest 9-speed mountain bike cassette ever at 224g.
• 3-Piece Alloy Carrier: Doubles the stiffness of the largest cogs while reducing weight.
• 4 Titanium Sprockets: The top 4 cogs are titanium which reduce weight and extend durability.
• Cassette Combinations: 11-32 / 11-34 / 12-34
Shimano XTR CS-M970 11-32t Cassette - MSRP $235.95 Shimano XTR CS-M970 11-34t Cassette - MSRP $235.95 Shimano XTR CS-M970 12-34t Cassette - MSRP $235.95 |
