 | | 2007 Shimano XTR BL-M970 / BR-M970 V-Brakes & V-Brake Levers | Day eight of the 2007 XTR component review and pricing preview. Of all the compnents in the 2007 XTR lineup the V-brakes and V-brake levers are probablly the two that changed the least. They gave the cosmetics an update to match the rest of the group but other than that they remain the same. Like they say "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." right? Disc brakes have really taken hold in the past few years so V-brakes may seem a little out of vogue. Fact is for many situations a good V-brake is all you need. They are light, simple and dependable. ETA is early October so we are keeping an eye out and will let you know as soon as we have them.
BL-M970 / BR-M970: V-Brake & V-Brake Lever
Receiving upgraded cosmetics, the BL-M970 & BR-M970 answers the calls for single speeders and traditionalists alike.
• BR-M970: Parallel-Push Linkage: The parallel mechanism employed produces uniform pressure on the rim for even pad wear, maximum tire clearance and optimum braking control.
• BL-M970: Servo Wave: Servo Wave creates fast initial lever action which quickly brings pads into contact with the rim. After contact with the rim slower action increases leverage during braking.
