Inside Bikeman's Toolbox
Shimano TL-CN32 Chain Tool:
Today inside Bikeman's toolbox we found an exotic Shimano Chain Tool. So we asked Bikeman to tell us why he likes this particular tool and how and when he might use it. Here is his review.
There is nothing sweeter than effortlessly breaking a chain with a quality chain tool. Granted this is not a tool you can throw in your seat pack before a ride, but once in every bike mechanics life you deserve a chain tool that does most of the work for you. The TL-CN32 is just such a tool. This tool looks almost as good as it works and the quality craftsmanship goes far beyond the beautiful wooden handles.

What happens to every chain tool after enough use? You break the chain pin of the tool off. Shimano not only allows you to replace the pin, as most descent tools will, they have given you two extra pins that are neatly tucked inside the large handle. The tool is almost completely rebuildable and can be taken apart for storage. Beyond the replaceable pin you can also replace the chain holding plate. This plate can often bend under the pressure of a stubborn chain.

This is a tool that has been in my tool box for almost 10 years now (I just replaced my old TL-CN31, 9-spd tool, with the new 10-spd compatible TL-CN32). I break it out ever so often when one of my bikes needs some good lovin. Not my everyday or trail side chain tool but one I would never give up.

This particular tool is 9 or 10-speed compatible. That means it will work on any chain that is 10-speed or below. This tool is available at Bikeman.com witha part number of: TL-CN32 .
