For the second year, Kelly Cline set up a great course for the Wissahickon cross race. Of note: 1.) you can see the entire course from the keg tent and 2.) the "circle of death", which is a tight cork screw feature about midway through the course that spins you left then turns at the center to spin you right - almost enough to make you dizzy.

The weather was not as nice as yesterday, but still really dry by cross standards. The sun came and went a few times and it was bit cooler. Sixty-eight B's lined up at 11:00 AM. I made it to about mid-scrum after the call-ups and was hopeful that my position at the start would help me get a better result than the day before. At the gun we fired up a not-so-maintained macadam road for about a tenth of a mile and then made a faint left onto the grass which had a bit of a track beaten in by the C race. I was able to stay pretty much mid-pack until my chain derailed about half my through the second lap. Only took about 30 seconds to get things back in order, but it seemed like 20 racers passed right on by. When I got back on the bike I had an initial burst of energy and was able to gain back my position. Then I blew up and lost it all again and basically rode the remainder of the race by myself. Ended up at 48th out of 68 starters. All said, done, and tired, it was a fun weekend of cross with lots of great people and two good workouts.
