Team Bikeman - Race Reports

The track was pretty much the same as last year but the start length was modified to make it safer on the first lap. This is a much shorter lap but man is it fun. 2 run-ups (1 ride-able, one run-able), a set of barriers, a flat paved finishing stretch, some sweet corners and the classic railroad track jump-humps. Rock. Same starting order as the other day for us pretty much, mid pack on the grid.  Off the start Tom was again riding like a champ and went away while I looked for my legs somewhere in my back pocket maybe? First half of the race was spent trying to get the motor running, but once it started it seemed better than the day before. Halfway through I started making up spots and riding smart to close gaps when I could. I clawed my way up to Tom and his group. We made it 1 more lap before they yanked us to make room for the McCormack/Wells express. Argh. I can make all kinds of excuses about how short the lap was and that's why I got lapped and 'blah blah blah ' but bottom line is those guys are just FAST. I made it to 50 minutes so I'm happy. 1 out of 2 for the double header isn't bad at all. Last year I got lapped in all but 1 of the Verge series. I'm doing something better I guess. I finished 33rd, Tom was in 36th and John was in 48th. It's tough but I think our Bikeman.com Elite squad is getting faster. 3 more for the series and then Nats time!
