The Prestige Series opener, Verdugo Park in Glendale. This compact location is the classic Thanksgiving weekend venue and now also a series opener. Sunday September 27, 2015 brought a large contingent of racers, family members, and a vocal group of hecklers. The creek bed is a focal point with numerous crossings, run ups, and scary descents. Second in importance, the mulch. In the opening race, it was untracked and thick. Each lap offered untold possibilities for doom. Asphalt, grass, sand trap, run ups, barriers, the race provided all elements. My affiliation to and with all things Bikeman.com was in perfect harmony for at least a couple of laps. Two races and time between to enjoy the return to cyclocross.
