Team Bikeman - Race Reports

We reached the top of the ridge about 1.45h into the ride and maxed out at about 5,000 feet. The ride did not stop here! What goes up, must come down...we then did a step, rocky, technical decent with epic switchbacks, which covered more than a 1,000 feet in less than 30 minutes. NUTZ! Again, the ride did not stop there...we proceeded to climb yet again. This time only about 1,000 feet...the view opened up to show us the epic ground we had just covered. We still had more climbing ahead of us before we could head back to the car...I admit, I was beginning to feel fatigue and major lactic acid on the climbs...Was it the major climbs or the 13 hours of intense cycling in four days?!? We proceeded to climb some more before we could truly reap the benefits of all our labor...FINALLY!!!! We began our rolling descents...they rolled down and down and down...this made all the suffering worth it! Finally we hit the road (Mary and I could not be happier!!!), but we still had another 600 feet of climbing before we hit the car and would proceed back to civilization...As we crested our last peak before the car we saw Ryan's Jeep and the rest of the clan. All and all, it was agreed that was an EPIC 20 mile, 4 hour RIDE! Rave reviews for the Salsa fleet, Bike-beater undergarments, and the Panaracer Fire XC Pro... We shall see what tomorrow holds...perhaps another gentle 40 mile spin up the Parkway?!?

Cheers from NC

Alyssa
