Kona Summer Mountain Bike Series #8

Mt. Washington Great Glen Trails Kona Week #8 Final Race

Really? my best times of the series was when I forgot the bike computer??

Adrenaline Definition, from the internet: a hormone secreted by the adrenal glands, especially in conditions of stress, increasing rates of blood circulation, breathing, and carbohydrate metabolism and preparing muscles for exertion.

Given: similar health, training, trail conditions and weather, whether you can do your very best (with no one to compete against but yourself), i.e. winning against the clock may depend on how much your brain and the rest of you can get psyched up?

Sure looks that way for me during this series. The week I forgot the computer, I focused solely on breathing as hard and constant as I could and certainly was motivated. The races are two short courses, 3.5 miles and 4.5 miles, so going anerobic too long is not as big a concern as a 10 mile long race. Is this correct?

The backdrop for this race series is the Great Glen Outdoor Trails Cross Country Center.

During the last race, the weather was spectacular, and my granddaughter Maryanne, Daughter Kate, Son in Law Brent, and wife Lily were all present. Pretty dang fun. No, I was not distracted. I finished the short course, cooled down a few moments, had a drink of Hammer Recovery and a Hammer Goo Packet, and then lined up for the long course. Took a sun shower after and headed to a Pub.

Unfortunately Moat Mtn brewery we planned to go to for outdoor dining was closed so we reverted to take home Chinese on the way through Bridgton, Maine.

Looking forward to January Fat Tire at Great Glen, or any real racing when it makes sense, possibly later this winter? And Thank you!! Great Glen and Sponsors for some great prizes with the weekly drawings.

Thanks for reading.

Happy Riding!!!!!!!!!
