New Product - Beacon Bike Rack Light

by Bikeman

The Beacon Bike Rack Light is an ingenious little bit of kit.  Rear bike racks obscure taillights even in the best of conditions but add nighttime, maybe rain and/or fog and it can be a little sketchy.  Run with a 4 pack of bikes on the back or put a rain cover over the bikes and now you're really asking for trouble.  Many times over the years I've thought I really should have auxiliary taillights mounted on the back of the rack for safety sake and even started do design a few in my mind but never got around to actually building one.  A few companies finally actually started to offer what I envisioned but they seem to fall into two categories, either they are rack specific or if they are generic they are mounted semi-permanently with adhesive tape.

Beacon built a unit that is adaptable to any bike rack and also quick on/off so you can move it between vehicles and racks.  Mounting is by way of a genuine RAM Mount clamp system.  The RAM system is used extensively in motorsports to attach electronics like a GPS or cell phone to motorcycles so you know it's solid.  The RAM parts alone would probably cost you upwards of $50 if you were to buy those separately.

Electrical connection to the vehicle is a standard 4 pin flat trailer wiring harness so you will need that on your vehicle or you will have to install one.  If you already have a trailer hookup but it is a different standard there are adapters readily available.
