Turkey Trot

by Roger Jorgensen

Historically, Turkey Trot was held at compact city park in Glendale, CA for over fifteen years. I have posted plenty of race reports over the decades. And now, Turkey Trot will be known as the race at Estancia Park in Costa Mesa. Likewise, a compact urban park. It has a challenging slope between the nearly flat sections. The grass lacks the normal gopher environs. The sand pit a little short, but the slope has the combinations of tough uphill and fast and loose down. Before I forget, thanks to Big Al for securing the best Bikeman.com race kit, ever. I showed off our new colors in the second wave of the days. While I battled with myself on course, the younger, faster 35 age group, passed me. The 55 age group which started ahead, began to lap me. Then the 65 age group, kind of melded into our 70 & 80 year old catorgories. Best days on a cross bike in years.
