Fruitlands CX race - Harvard, MA

by John Sumner • October 28, 2018

Fruitlands CX race in Harvard, MA has been happening for some time. This was my first year taking part. The weekend called for a Saturday Nor'easter so I was mentally prepared for a cold (38 degrees), rainy (downpour), muddy and windy race.

The course was on the side of a grass field on a hilltop. This was not a technical course and when dry, must be fast. We traversed through the field with many hairpin turns working down the hill. There were two small climbs that were muddy, so running was in order. My Schwalbe X-one's again handled the course well, I was able to ride where others were running. Turning with confidence thanks to all the fresh nobbies on my tires.

I had to return home (to 2" of snow) early so I entered the 4/5 race. I came in 10th and had a great time picking many riders off throughout the four-lap race.

It was fun, go next year!
