Quabbin Reservoir Classic Road Race

by Michael Waldroup • July 06, 2019

Rainy conditions and 40 degree weather multiplied the brutality of this race. The group was too cold and wet to get anything going in the first 45 miles. An attack around mile 50 coupled with a major pile up left the peloton scrambling. Myself and a few others lost touch while chasing a lead group up a kicker. As chasers dodged wash-out sections made of wood chips and dirt, another high speed crash sent me into the woods but I was able to stay upright. The race was over. I ended up in a group of 10 or so and limped across the line for 25th.
