Spooky Cross-itas

Named Spooky Cross-itas, a few days after the real event. A return to rural Ojai and the scenic Lake Casitas for back to back days of racing. The course design has slight changes yearly, this year's challenge were earthen berms, plenty of sand and the kiss of SoCal 90 degree temperatures. My start follows the 55+, and is bracketed by two groups of younger riders. As a mid-pack racer, I attempt to overtake mechanical problems and avoid the hard charging from behind. The days were a challenge.
