We are BIKEMAN / Bath Cycle and Ski, located on the coast of Maine. Surrounded by some of the best riding in the country, the terrain here is quintessential east coast. Roots, rocks, mud, granite, you name it, we've got it.  Looking for the scoop on the trails or quite roads in the area, give us a call or better yet stop on by!

The brands we carry

Winter Biking

Most of my winter riding is a 5 mile commute to the bike shop on back roads.  I have fallen down twice in the last few years, each time on ice.  Ice is frequently found at the side of the roads and occasionally in the middle if there is a low, flat spot.  I have learned to be very careful when braking, that is when the wheels can lock up on ice and put you down quick.

Tires, Care and Feeding

Where and how far you ride will determine what sort of tire you need for your bicycle. If you ride a few miles around your neighborhood or on a bike path or packed gravel, you do not need high pressure tires or fat ones with lugs on it.

Bike Helmet Fit

How do you know if your bike helmet fits? Put helmet on and bend over at the waist, putting your head toward the floor. The helmet should stay on your head, not fall on the floor. If it falls on the floor, tighten the appropriate band in the back of the helmet or insert foam pads.

Dr. Mark has been a fixture at Bikeman for almost a decade.  A wiley veteran who has become the ultimate utility player.  From fixing flats, building bikes, selling on the floor, and performing a variety of administrative tasks, Mark is always willing to work hard and lend a hand to anyone in need.  Mark is a certified Bicycle Safety Instructor and also completed a bicycle mechanics course at Barnett's Bicycle Institute in Colorado Springs.

Big Al came to Bikeman as a free agent after several years at a local Mechanical Engineering firm.  He has thrived at Bikeman, starting as a part time wrench and working his way to the executive offices.  Al spends his time managing Team Bikeman, adding content to the site, and staring at the enless lines of code in the ever expanding Bikeman product database.  Somewhere along the way Al also became our Systems Admin...

Dexter is a man of many talents...  He can answer the phone, overhaul your Fox Fork, list a couple of Ebay Auctions, fire back a 6-pack of donuts, and let you know what is wrong with just about any product he doesn't ride, all before our friends on the left coast get out of bed.  Joel is an experienced mechanic as well as cutomer service rep. and a long time Bikeman employee.
