Race Reports
Coyote Hill Classic MTB Race
West Fairlee, VT
May 27, 2007

It all started when I saw my friend Sasha and asked her about the two women's categories. It turns out there were two categories starting at the same time, one was expert and one was pro/open. As I totally new to the whole 'paying attention to your race category', I was dumbfounded. Sasha and I decided to move up the pro/open race two minutes before the start. After I had retied my twist-ties, I headed to the start.

The course starts going up a narrow dirt road, then enters singletrack. It was not too technical and not too smooth 4.8 mile loop. I was hanging out with these two girls and then had some trouble with my brakes. After a little fanagaling and a little hard riding, I was back up to them. Then, my shock fell apart and I lost them. I ended up finishing a little behind them after endo-ing twice due to zero compression on my shock's part.

In the end, Sasha and I got wupped by the pros--I would have podiumed in the expert class. I'll know next time.
