 2007 Collegiate National Update
For the past several days it has been raining here in Banner Elk, North Carolina. Take all that rain and put it onto a fresh cut course and you have a mud fest. Plus this time of year all the leaves are falling off the trees. Thanks to the week of rain every leaf has fallen and covered the course making the climbs almost impossible to climb.
For my pre ride I chose a Panaracer 1.8 Fire Mud in the rear and a Panaracer 2.1 Trail Raker in the front. Even the fire mud was having a hard time with conditions today. I think I will have to switch it out and put on another 2.1 trail raker in the back. It’s hard to say what the lap count will be tomorrow. We are currently set for 4 laps, and each lap is 5 miles. With the current conditions it’s going to be a 2.5 hour race for the leaders. I think if we did 3 laps we would be under 2 hours.
Good note is the legs are feeling good and it sounds like the majority of the kids here can’t even ride the down hills. Good news for me. Time for a nap. I will let everyone know how it goes tomorrow.
