24 Hours of Adrenalin Hurkey Creek Park Idyllwild, CA April 26th & 27th 2008
 | | click to enlarge | What a great place to hold a 24 hour bike race. Hurkey Creek Park is located in the San Jacinto mountain range, a hop skip and bike ride from Idyllwild California. The 24 Hours of Adrenalin is held at the park twice a year. The spring race always seems to be a little cooler and the trail a little more hard packed. Of course that all will change.

With 400 riders, check points, water stops and flats it's not simple but a whole lot of fun. I have been able to ride in the event for a number of years now and always enjoy it. It's a chance to get the whole family out, camp, BBQ, chase the dog and get some serious saddle time in. Competition doesn't hurt either.
 | | click to enlarge | This was the first time I rode the 8 hour solo on a single speed. It turned out to be real serious saddle time. Going into it, what you thought would hurt or have problems with didn't come into play. You really need a plan to eat and not just Power Bars and Gu. A change of clothes, shoes or even the bike to get comfortable wouldn't hurt. Don't forget the lip balm and sunscreen. When it's all over with, you just sucked in 4.5 lbs. of trail dust thru your intake manifold and forgot to tighten down the air cleaner. I had a grand time, I'd do it again in a hot second but not this week. Thanks guys,
Russ
