Just a quick note on one of the many trails within 20 or so miles of Moab proper. I'm always looking for some trail or ride that the family can do together, grand kids inculded. The guys always seem to spend too much time riding miles away from the family. Even at a race, they see dear ol’ dad making laps and then he has nothing to say on the way home except for the off-camber turn he blew or that steep grade to the finish line.
Ok, so load every able body in the van and shuttle them to the top of Gemini Bridges Trail. It drops down from the plateau of the Island of the Sky through wide open cattle lands of Arths Pasture, then down again into Canyon Country. A short steep hill out and back to the van.
Point to point it's 13 miles. 26 mile loop if you want to turn it into a scenic training ride. Most of all the bike shops in town will set up a shuttle if you don’t have two vehicles. The bridges themselves are two major arches overlooking a canyon. You can walk out on the arches. Take plenty of time to enjoy the view. Hope the pics do it justice.
