What is the Pro House Yarmouth? It is the collection of Pro Mountainbike and Cyclcross athletes Andrew Freye, John Burns and collegiate Trackstars Hattie Landry and Gabby Cyr, trying to live the dream, packed into a Cape in Yarmouth, ME . Kind of like MTv's "Real World," except everyone is asleep by 11pm or so. No one is stumbling around drunk half the time. No one is yelling and fighting with each other. We actually have to pay rent. Our house is small and simple, although adequate. Wait, maybe it is not just like the "Real World." For the right price though, cameras welcome.
The early season mountain bike racing is in the books here at the Yarmouth Pro house. I started the season with a 5th place showing in semi-pro down in Maryland at the Greenbrier Challenge. I actually lost out 4th in the sprint to the Trek guy. Andrew has been on fire with a win and top finishes in the Root 66 New England MTB series.
So we both entered into the UCI cat. 1 Canada Cup races at Bromont and Mt. Tremblant with good feelings. Andrew has posted a couple good races in 22nd and 21st at Bromont and Mt. Trembant respectively even with some small mechanical problems. I, however, have floundered with lots of broken bike parts and physical malfunctions that overshadowed good fitness and produced a DNF at Bromont and 43rd at Mt. Tremblant. Needless to say, I have something to prove at the upcoming UCI cat.2 Quebec Cup race in Baie St. Paul on the 7/8/08.
