Fantastic all-around handlebars for a city bike or touring due to the many hand positions available; they are vastly superior to mountain bike bars in this respect. You can get a surprisingly areodynamic position when your hands are on the curved portion, and the straight portion is great for pulling up steep hills are starting out from a stoplight (like mt. bike barends, but in a more sensible, closer position). The only thing these bars lose to road bars is the low position for screaming down hills; otherwise they are more comfy than any other hbar. Caveats: You'd better like bar-end shifters (I tried Paul's thumbies with a plastic shim and couldn't position them right due to the curve of the bars), and the cable routing from the shifters needs to be planned carefully so as not to interfere with the brake levers. Also plan on spending time trying out different positions for the brake levers and different angles for the hbars- makes a big difference in comfort. You will probably want a shorter and higher stem with these hbars. I highly recommend padded tape, too.
