You've been asking for it so now we have it. For the first time Bikeman.com is now stocking Swiss Stop rim brake pads. Interest has grown in these pads to near cult status over the past couple years, especially in cyclocross. Bikeman loves cyclocross so how could we say no? We are carrying all varieties to fit whatever brake pads style you use on your rig; smooth post canti, v-brake style inserts and road brake style inserts. We also have compounds for aluminum rims and carbon rims.

Honestly I was a little confused when I first looked at all the models and the naming scheme, I was left scratching my head a little. But, being a engineer type and wanting to organize things, I got it figured out. Basically it goes like this, you have a name that is comprised of two parts. The first part denotes what brake system the pad is compatible with. They are: Rat for smooth post cantis, Rx for v-brake style inserts, Flash for Shimano/SRAM road style inserts, Race for Campagnolo 8/9 road style inserts and Race2000 for Camagnolo 10/Zero Gravity road style inserts.

Ok, so we are halfway there. The next part of the name denotes the type of rim material the pad compound is designed for. Here we narrow it down to two choices, GHP (Green High Performance) and Yellow King.
The "GHP" or green high performance compound is designed for aluminum rims in the most demanding conditions. Cross is pretty demanding, I'd say it fits. Here is what Swiss Stop has to say about it:

The Yellow King compound is designed for the ultimate braking performance on carbon rims. If you have carbon wheels you know how important it is to have the correct pad. The Yellow King is an extremely versatile brake pad for carbon wheels. It has been proven to operate quietly and effectively in all conditions - including rain - on a wide range of carbon fiber braking surfaces. In wet conditions, where carbon pads traditionally dissappoint, they provide incredible stopping power. For cyclocross or road, if you have carbon wheels these are the pads to have.

So there you have it, all the info you need to order up your brake pads. Let's have a quiz. You need some smooth post canti pads for aluminum rims. What pad do you need? Rat GHP is the correct answer. How about some Shimano road style inserts for carbon rims? Fash Yellow King. Go it?
