February update: Food more food and a little bit of riding. Non-stop eating pretty much sums up the last month for me. The average person is supposed to eat somewhere around 2,000 calories a day. I think I am eating somewhere around 5,000 calories a day. That's approximately 150,000 calories a month! It's a good thing that the university offers a meal plan with 19 meals per week. I am actually talking to the managers of the dining center to get my name on some type of a plaque for next year in regards to being on the 19 meal plan for four straight years. Being on the highest meal plan for that long has got to be some type of record. I have now started eating breakfast twice a day.

There is a reason for all this eating and it's because of all the riding I've been doing lately. Luckily for us Mainers the weather has been nice for winter riding and I was able to ride outside everyday in February except for one day. Not bad, I even got to ride outside in shorts one day in February! Yeah I might have been out riding when the temps were 15 degrees and the wind was blowing at 25mph but that beats 4hrs on the rollers! After one of my rides I had frost building up on the inside of my jacket! It was pretty sweet.

A lot of good things have happened in the past month besides being able to spend countless hours on my bike building up my base. There is a saying my 3rd grade teacher taught my class. My teacher said if you say "rabbit, rabbit day" when you first get up on the 1st of the month then your month will be filled with good luck. Some how many years later I remembered that on February 1st and it truly was a good month. My month started out by getting a sweet sponsorship with Salsa Cycles. Then on top of that I got a new Salsa road bike. . It has been a couple of years since I have had a road bike so getting on the new Salsa Campeon felt a little weird at first. After a couple minutes and riding up the first hill on the Campeon I knew I loved the bike. Its wicked light and the ride is so smooth and fast. I am going to have to be careful not to get picked up for speeding by the cops on this bike.

Some other good news is that I had a week off of school in February. I spent two days of it working at SGC Engineering down in Westbrook and the rest of it at home. I was able to make it up to the mountains and go skiing for a day which was a nice change of things. The rest of my break was spent in the saddle of my bike. I put in so many hours on the bike. It was great to just head out and get lost in the country side of Maine. One day I was riding through the boondocks of Fayette Maine (human population 1,000 live stock population apx 5 times that) when I saw the coolest animals. They were these hairy cows. I stopped and took some pictures that I will put up on my web site once it gets built up. Since I've had some bad experiences with cows when living out west I didn't stop for long because these hairy cows looked much more vicious then your regular everyday dairy cow.

I have been talking with Salsa Cycles and Bikeman.com about building my own blog or web site that will have links from both companies to my blog. This will allow me to keep people besides those of you who receive these emails to see how things are coming along with me. I am really excited to get it up and running. Expect to see it up by the end of March.

March should be another stellar month for me. I have another week off from school at the end of the month and I am going to head out to San Diego to see my brother. I haven't really had a chance to hang out with just my bro since he joined the military 6 years ago so I am really looking forward to the trip. I will let everyone know how it goes in a month! Till then take care and thanks for everyone's support.
