Nokian Replacement Stud Kit
After years of waiting, we studded snow tire users have a high quality replacement stud for our ailing tires. Nokian has introduced a replacement carbide stud kit and an installation tool.
As I tell people who are purchasing studded tires, you WILL lose studs. Regardless of who makes the tire. Thanks to the folks at Suomi Tyre in Finland- aka Nokian Tire - high quality replacement studs are now offered. Formerly the only winter tire stud kit you could get was from Innova, but they were a much lower quality stud than what is offered by Nokian. The studs you receive in the Nokian kit are the same ultra-durable carbide tip housed in a steel sheath that give the excellent grip that you have come to expect from your tires.
A tool will also be offered by Nokian to make installation easy, but at the time of this article the tool isn't yet available. While the Nokian studs are obviously designed for Nokian tires, I see no reason you couldn't use them in a competitors tire (Schwalbe, Continental, Kenda, etc).
